VISA DURATION
12 or 18 month Max Terms
Up to 12 months (intern) or 18 months (trainee) maximum term lengths. No extensions beyond max term with limited options for repeat programs.
FAMILY VISAS
J-2 Dependent Visa
Spouses and children may obtain J-2 visas, with spouses eligible to work in the U.S.
PORTABILITY
Transfer Limited
J-1 program participants can transfer to a new U.S. host company with sponsor company approval.
INTENT
Non-Immigrant Intent
J-1 holders must demonstrate intent to return home after the program.
